Sports

Do you have a sports injury? Is your athletic performance below your expectations?

A chiropractor who is experienced in working with these issues may be able to help.

Your journey with us will begin with a thorough discussion of your injury or issue, followed by a physical examination. This may include orthopaedic, neurological, postural and chiropractic examinations, as well as a movement assessment.

We aim to reach an accurate diagnosis in order to determine an appropriate course of treatment for you.

Once we have determined how to help you, treatment begins. This may include joint manipulation or mobilisation (what chiropractors call an “adjustment”), soft tissue therapies, rehabilitation or other exercise therapies, taping and strapping, and basic nutritional advice.

Our goal is to return you to activity safely and in the shortest time possible.

Why use Thrive Canberra for your sporting concerns

  • We regularly attend the latest seminars and workshops specific to working with athletes.

  • We use Active Release Techniques (ART) as our soft tissue therapy of choice.

  • We use the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) and Functional Movement Screen (FMS) to assess and correct any movement faults underlying your issue.

  • We use a range of cutting-edge technologies to help us accurately measure and track your movement and progress, including the following:

    • the AxIT system allows us to accurately measure the force you can produce in over 120 different movements, so we can assess your strength, stability and motor control, and therefore more specifically prescribe you exercises to help you improve.

    • the Balance Tracks system allows us to effectively measure your balance, including the ability to assess what component of your balance needs improvement.

    • Spark Motion allows us to video your movement so we and you can more accurately see where your movement needs work.

  • We will comfortably work with other health professionals where necessary to manage your recovery and rehabilitation as part of a team.
